Midwest-CMOM (Midwest Christian Moms of Many) - I am a Christian mom who just move to Fort Wayne, IN on June 2 2006. For the previous 7 years our family lived in SE Iowa. We have 6 children ages 3-14 years old. Having a large family is a blessing. Yet in this day and age it is challenging. Any mom in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Northern Missouri with 4 or more children living at home is welcome here. We will discuss household organization, homeschooling ideas, frugal living tips, child training, Christian living, modesty, and general encouragement. I want this to be a list where friendships are made and encouragement and prayer for one another is priority.

    For more information, visit MOMYS.com.

    • Local Real-Life (RL) support groups, activities, events etc.
    • Reasons for homeschooling/unschooling.

    • Pure fluff.

MNHS - This is a list dedicated to homeschooling in Minnesota. Everyone who home-schools is welcome, not just Minnesotans. This is also a place where homeschoolers can trade/sell/buy homeschool materials or just get rid of old materials that they no longer use. Here's a little info about why I started this list. I am currently homeschooling my son, age 13, through Connections Academy, and homeschooling changed my life, as it allowed me to explore my full potential... I wish I had found it earlier.

    To Subscribe, visit MNHS.

mnlhs (MN-Liberal-HS) - This is a homeschool group for liberally-minded parents in Minnesota (and surrounding areas). This is a social group as well as homeschooling group, so there may be topics that are not directly related to homeschooling at times (but socializing is a part of life and life is our "school"). I hope we all know what 'liberally-minded' means, but in case it's not clear...

Liberal \Lib"er*al\, n. One who favors greater freedom in political or religious matters; an opponent of the established systems.

Liberal adj 1: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; 2: having political or social views favoring reform and progress 3: tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition [antonym: conservative] n 1: a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties [synonym: progressive] [antonym: conservative]

Liberal adj. Not bound by orthodox tenets or established forms in political or religious philosophy; independent in opinion; not conservative; friendly to great freedom in the constitution or administration of government.

No advertising (without permission of group owner), flaming or spamming will be tolerated. Please be respectful. Minnesota Liberal Homeschool Group

MNMuslimHomeschoolers (MN Muslim Homeschoolers) - Bismillah and As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah

This email group will, inshaALLAH, serve as a resource for Muslim Homeschoolers AND those supplementing Islamic education on their own, in Minnesota to communicate and share with each other. Its purpose is to facilitate faster communication and daily discussion of homeschool related information such as: curriculum ideas or questions, daily schedule (or unschedule), group meeting dates and time reminders, field trip ideas, dates and times, educational homeschool websites, organizational skills, as well as additional daily support, encouragement and a safe place to ask questions.

Posting of links related to homeschooling are welcome. You may post these yourself by clicking on "Bookmarks" and adding the link. Please remember to give an easy identifiable name to the URL.

This email group can also serve as a message board for the buying and selling of education/homeschool items. Any transactions are strictly between the two parties and are not the responsibility of this board. We are simply providing you the space to list what you need. You may also use the "Photos" link to display pictures of your items.

Items of interest such as: books, curriculum, educational toys, educational audio or video needs, manipulatives, lab supplies, telescopes, costumes, etc., are welcome. If you wish to post your items in categories such as: reading, social studies, videos, etc. that is fine.

jazakallaher for all that you do....

mnpaganhomeschool (MN Pagan Homeschooling) - There are a number of great pagan homeschooling lists online, but none specifically for Minnesota. So I thought we needed a place to connect and maybe work on getting the kids together or post pagan activity info around the state. We can also chat, post links, book share, book swap, whatever. All are welcome, but I have zero tolerance for intolerance.

MN-SASH - MN-SASH/Sibley County Area Scholars at Home is a support/co-op group for Minnesota home educators living in Sibley county and the surrounding area.

We stay in contact with each other via this website. ALL members are highly encouraged to actively participate by regular attendance at our monthly meetings and other events. We value your contributions to our support group.

To Subscribe, visit MN-SASH/Sibley County Area Scholars at Home.

MNUnschoolers (Unschoolers in Minnesota) - This group is for people in Minnesota that unschool (learn from life, rather than formal educational curriculum): adults, children, parents and nonparents.

In this group, we can ask questions, and get opinions and support.

We understand once a parent, always a parent (so parents of adult children are welcome). The parenting and living style reflected in this group is similar to Scott Noelle's, parenting coach. To quote him and his website:

"EnjoyParenting.com is a resource for parents who believe that children are innately good and that responsive, natural, creative parenting is the best way to foster their goodness.

"If you're looking for clever ways to control your child's behavior, you won't find this site very useful. But if you want to experience authentic power with your child — joyfully, nonviolently, and unconditionally — you've come to the right place!

"As an idealistic, progressive, leading-edge parent, you already have a desire to parent in harmony with your child's nature and spirit. The question is... How does one make the shift from the old parenting paradigm of control to the new paradigm of partnership and co-creation? EnjoyParenting.com supports parents in making that shift successfully, from the inside out."

mpls-ns-hs (Mpls North Side Homeschooling Families) - Minneapolis North Side Homeschooling Families is an opportunity for people who live on the North Side of Minneapolis, MN, or in nearby communities, and that homeschool to meet, play and socialize. Friends and people who are interested in homeschooling and want to learn more are also welcome.

We hold play dates/social hours on the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 2-4 PM. During the 'regular' school year, these are held at Creekview Neighborhood Center in North Minneapolis (5001 Irving Ave N, just off the Humboldt Greenway) and at North Mississippi Regional Park during the summer months of June, July and August.

Even if you can't join us for play and socializing, feel free to join this list. We will be announcing events and opportunities via our calendar and you may want to go to some of these and meet us or other metro area homeschoolers. Welcome!
