- HomeSchool-ME - This is a list provided for all homeschooling families in the state of Maine to get to know one another. Since Maine has so much rural area, I felt that this list would be a great way for us to get to meet one another, share ideas and thoughts about homeschooling and keep up to date on the current events regarding our state and homeschooling. Please introduce yourself after joining so we can all say hello and get to meet you.

- HomeschoolingInMaine (Homeschool Support For Parents In Maine) - Homeschooling and support go hand and hand. Without the support of at least one other person, homeschoolers often find that they are questioning themselves and the way that they have decided to school their children. When you think about it, is it really that hard to believe that it only takes one other person to remind you that your children will be okay, and that you are doing a great job?! I owe a great deal of my confidence to my support system that I have surrounded myself with. I am grateful to them.
This group is intended to help you gain the confidence that you want and need, this group is also intended to make each other aware of upcoming activities. So post away! Ask questions, give comments, lend a hand, give praise, and remember that there just might be someone reading your post that needs that one person to offer support in their life today!

- LearningAllTheTime (Learning All the Time) - Learning All the Time is an email loop consisting of a diverse group of Southern Maine homeschooling parents. Learning All the Time (LATT) is utilized for homeschooling advice, support, and the sharing of new resources. All members are encouraged to use the list as a tool for organizing homeschool-related events as desired.
When new members join, we ask for an introduction by the new member. Beyond that, when and how much a member posts is up to the member.
The LATT list welcomes everyone. Here is a definition of "everyone" (labels are indicated in parenthesis and are used only for the convenience of communication):
- Homeschooling parents of every "religion": Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Pagan, Hindu, Atheist and all others.
- Homeschooling parents of every "sexual orientation": homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, transexual.
- Homeshooling parents of every "race" and every "ethnic" tradition.
- Homeschooling parents of every homeschooling focus, from "unschoolers" to "curriculum users" to all those in between.
The LATT list leans toward kindness. While disagreements may arise on a particular topic, or when the frustrations of life may intervene with our usual level-headedness, kindness ought always be foremost in a post or a reply to a post (even when unkindness is initiated). The larger community of LATT ought always be considered when a post is being made. LATT members come from a variety of different lifestyles, viewpoints, religions, and backgrounds. LATT is not a group of homogenous members. In order to respect the integrity of each member, the heterogeneity of the group ought always be considered. Please leave any politics which may be harmful to the spirits of others 'at home.'
We welcome you and your homeschooling family!

Please join us!
We are a group of homeschoolers who are interested in this lifestyle for some of the following reasons: preserving childhood, academic excellence, open-minded curriculum, simple and natural living, freedom from groupthought, etc. Most of us have not chosen this lifestyle in order to teach a specific religious curriculum. We are open to all faiths and are considerate of our religious differences.
It is our hope that this group will meet at least twice a month to participate in various learning and discovery experiences. All ages are welcome.
This area of Maine offers a great bounty of opportunites for kids to learn, discover and grow. - seacoastunschoolingnetwork (Seacoast Unschooling Network) - A non-directed support network for unschooling families in the seacoast area of southern Maine and New Hampshire, as well as those who live a bit farther away but cannot find unschooling support in their area. We are an open-minded group, so if you are not quite an unschooler but take a relaxed approach to home education you will probably feel comfortable here. We also welcome those who are new to homeschooling or have young children and are exploring their options. If you are unfamiliar with what it means to unschool, please read over the links page on the website before joining the group.
We are inspired by the works of John Holt, and the idea that curiosity is innate and that learning is a natural, seamless part of life. We believe that the school model of coercive learning is inefficient and potentially harmful, and does not need to be replicated in the home. Perhaps the simplest definition of unschooling is "not doing school", and the purpose of this group is to share ways that we are living and learning without school.
We are a real-life community as well as a cyber-group, so we do ask that members provide some basic personal information along with their request to join the group (full name, town, ages of children). This information will go to the moderator and will not be shared with the whole group. Upon joining the group, an introduction is always nice, and helps us feel more comfortable with each other.
Regarding posting etiquette, this is intended to be a friendly, supportive group. Members should feel free to post their own thoughts and experiences, but in a way that is respectful of other families' values and lifestyles.
